Several octasubstituted zinc azaphthalocyanines (ZnAzaPcs) of the tetrapyrazinoporphyrazine type have been synthesized as potential sensitizers for photodynamic therapy (PDT). Low singlet oxygen quantum yields (Phi(Delta)) and also low fluorescence quantum yields (Phi(F)) were observed for these ZnAzaPcs.
