Substituted imidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) were investigated for their reactivity towards Na12Ge17 as a model system containing redox-sensitive Zintl cluster anions. The ILs proved widely inert for imidazolium cations with a 1,2,3-trisubstitution at least by alkyl groups, and for the anion bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)azanide (TFSI). A minute conversion of Na12Ge17 observed on long-time contact with such ILs was not caused by dissolution of the salt-like compound, and did thus not provide dissolved Ge clusters. Rather, a cation exchange led to the transfer of Na+ ions into solution. In contrast, by using benzophenone as an oxidizer, heterogeneous redox reactions of Na12Ge17 were initiated, transferring a considerable part of Na+ into solution. At optimized conditions, an X-ray amorphous product NaGe6.25 was obtained, which was thermally convertible to the crystalline type-II clathrate Na24-delta Ge136 with almost completely Na-filled polyhedral cages, and alpha-Ge. The presented method thus provides unexpected access to Na24-delta Ge136 in bulk quantities.

A new series of 3-phenyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazole-5-carboxamides were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their potency against Mtb H37Rv. Designed molecules were synthesized by one-pot cycloaddition reaction in good to excellent yields. Anti-Tubercular evaluation of all synthesized derivatives identified 6k to be highly potent (MIC 1 mu g/mL) against Mtb and drug-resistant strains. All potent derivatives were found to be non-toxic when tested against Vero cells. Also, in silico studies were employed to explore the binding patterns of designed compounds to target Mycobacterial membrane protein Large-3. All derivatives exhibited excellent binding patterns with the receptor. The excellent in silico Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion properties and druggability parameters positions these molecules as promising lead candidates for the future development of new drugs to treat drug-resistant Tuberculosis. Herein, we report a bioinspired catalytic system for the one-pot cascade oxidation of a native primary amine and an in situ generated non-native secondary amine. The catalyst consists of an o-quinone cofactor phd (1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) and a copper ion and operates under ambient air conditions. Quinazolin-4(3H)-ones, which are common pharmacophores present in numerous pharmaceuticals and bioactive compounds, were synthesized in high yields. A detailed kinetic and mechanistic study elucidates the role of the catalyst in the multi-step oxidative cascade reaction.

This study reports two synthetic approaches leading to 2-aminobenzoxazoles and their N-substituted analogues. Our first synthetic strategy involves a reaction between various o-aminophenols and N-cyano-N-phenyl-p-toluenesulfonamide as a nonhazardous electrophilic cyanating agent in the presence of Lewis acid. The second synthetic approach uses the Smiles rearrangement upon activation of benzoxazole-2-thiol with chloroacetyl chloride. Both developed synthetic protocols are widely applicable, afford the desired aminobenzoxazoles in good to excellent yields, and use nontoxic and inexpensive starting material.

A palladium-catalyzed allenamide carbopalladation/allylation with active methine compounds has been developed. Various indoles and isoquinolinones bearing a quaternary carbon center were achieved with good efficiency, a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. This reaction underwent cascade oxidative addition, carbopalladation, and allylic alkylation, and two new C-C bonds were formed in one pot.

Background Accurate sentinel lymph node (SLN) staging is essential for both prognosis and treatment in patients with breast cancer. However, the preoperative lymphoscintigraphy may fail to visualize the SLN in some patients. The purpose of this retrospective study was to identify risk factors associated with SLN nonvisualization on lymphoscintigraphy. For this single-center retrospective study, all data of lymphoscintigraphy of SLN procedures from March 2011 to April 2021 were collected and reviewed from the Amsterdam UMC database. Results A total of 1886 SLN procedures were included in this study. The SLN nonvisualization rate was 25.1% on lymphoscintigraphy at 4 h post-injection. The SLN nonvisualization rate decreased to 9.4% after reinjection. Multivariable analysis showed that age >= 70 years (P < 0.001; OR: 2.27; 95% CI: 1.46-3.53), BMI >= 30 kg/m(2) (P = 0.031; OR: 1.48; 95% CI: 1.04-2.12) and nonpalpable tumors (P = 0.004; OR: 1.54; 95% CI: 1.15-2.07) were independent predictors of SLN nonvisualization. Tumor location, brand of radiopharmaceutical, injected dose and volume, experience of preparer and administrator were not associated with SLN nonvisualization. None of the patient, tumor or tracer characteristics were associated with SLN nonvisualization after radiotracer reinjection. Conclusions This study shows that risk factors for SLN nonvisualization in breast cancer patients during preoperative lymphoscintigraphy are age >= 70 years, BMI >= 30 kg/m(2) and nonpalpable tumors. Our results support the notion that SLN lymphoscintigraphy is a very robust technique that does not depend on the experience of the preparer or administrator of the radiotracer.

Facile green synthesis of BiOCl-TiO2 was done using combustion technique by Ixora coccinea leaf extract as fuel source. The said material was characterized using XRD, SEM, EDX, HRTEM, SAED, FTIR, and UV-DRS. The particle size was found to be approximately 60 nm and a crystallite size of 0.3 nm from TEM. The photocatalytic activity of the material was found out using photoluminescence studies, dye degradation and photocatalytic organic conversion. The material showed excellent dye degradation capacity for methylene blue with 80% of the dye degraded under 3 hrs. The stabilisation of electron-hole pair by the heterostructure gave it the ability to perform easy degradation. The degradation kinetics have also been studied. It also showed an excellent organic conversion property with formylation yield reaching up to 96% and total conversion of the reactant molecule. The material is a potent photocatalyst due to its great efficiency and can have a remarkable role in the synthesis of important organic molecules and detoxification of environment.Graphical AbstractThe heterostructure catalyses the conversion of amine to amides and mineralizes methylene blue under visible light condition.

The condensation of 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil with substituted benzaldehydes gave six Schiff base derivatives which were brought into cyclizations with sodium azide, anthranilic acid, and 2-sulfanylbenzoic acid to afford new dihydrotetrazoles, dihydroquinazolin-4-ones, and 1,3-benzothiazine-4-ones containing a 1,3-di-methyluracil fragment. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds was confirmed by FTIR and NMR spectroscopy, and their in vitro antioxidant and antimicrobial activities against some bacterial and fungal strains were evaluated.

We report the synthesis of inexpensive and environmentally benign cobalt(0) nanoparticles on L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-dopa) functionalized and magnetite (Fe3O4) grafted graphene oxide (Co@GO/Fe3O4/L-dopa) which was fully characterized with different techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), Carbon Hydrogen Nitrogen (CHN) analysis, Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Graphene oxide was used as the core material due to its mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. In order to avoid the cumbersome process of separation, magnetite nanoparticles were coated over the graphene oxide. After the successful preparation of graphene oxide based magnetic nanoparticles, L-dopa was grafted over Fe3O4 nanoparticles so as to provide firm anchoring agent for cobalt nanoparticles. Finally, cobalt(0) nanoparticles were immobilized on the developed magnetic support. The catalytic efficiency of the synthesized catalyst was tested for Suzuki cross-coupling and oxidation reactions, usually carried out by precious and expensive second and third row transition metals; products were obtained in good to excellent yields. The synthesized catalyst represents an attractive alternative to conventional catalysts for Suzuki cross-coupling and oxidation reactions, and is recyclable up to five runs.

A series of novel rutaecarpine derivatives were synthesized and subjected to pharmacological evaluation as PDE5 inhibitors. The structure-activity relationships were discussed and their binding conformation and simultaneous interaction mode were further clarified by the molecular docking studies. Among the 25 analogues, compound 8i exhibited most potent PDE5 inhibition with IC50 values about 0.086 mu M. Moreover, it also produced good effects against scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment in vivo. These results might bring significant instruction for further development of potential PDE5 inhibitors derived from rutaecarpine as a good candidate drug for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
