A rapid practical process has been developed for synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted-imidazoles in excellent yields up to 95% from readily available starting materials. In this CuI catalyzed synthesis, trisubstituted imidazoles were afforded in short reaction times, wherein the substrate scope is well explored with benzoin as well as benzil reacting with different aldehydes in the presence of ammonium acetate as the nitrogen source.

A novel ionic liquid modified graphene oxide supported Mo-complex [GO@IL/MoO2(acae)(2)] was successfully prepared, characterized and its catalytic application was investigated. The GO@IL/MoO2(acae)(2) catalyst was prepared through the surface modification of graphene oxide with alkyl imidazolium chloride followed by treatment with molybdenyl acetylacetonate. The GO@IL/MoO2(acae)(2) catalyst was characterized by using FT-IR, PXRD, TGA, EDX, and SEM analyses. This catalyst showed high activity in the green production of pyrazolo[b] phthalazine dione derivatives under ultrasonic conditions. The designed catalyst was effectively recovered and successfully reused at least eight times without significant loss in its efficiency.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and requires intense and growing research investments from the public and private sectors. This is expected to lead to the development of new medicines. A determining factor in this process is the structural understanding of molecules with potential anticancer properties. Since the major compounds used in cancer therapies fail to encompass every spectrum of this disease, there is a clear need to research new molecules for this purpose. As it follows, we have studied the class of quinolinones that seem effective for such therapy. This paper describes the structural elucidation of a novel dihydroquinoline by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy characterization. Topology studies were carried through Hirshfeld surfaces analysis and molecular electrostatic potential map; electronic stability was evaluated from the calculated energy of frontier molecular orbitals. Additionally, in silico studies by molecular docking indicated that this dihydroquinoline could act as an anticancer agent due to their higher binding affinity with human aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH 1A1). Tests in vitro were performed for VERO (normal human skin keratinocytes), B16F10 (mouse melanoma), and MDA-MB-231 (metastatic breast adenocarcinoma), and the results certified that compound as a potential anticancer agent. The condensation of 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil with substituted benzaldehydes gave six Schiff base derivatives which were brought into cyclizations with sodium azide, anthranilic acid, and 2-sulfanylbenzoic acid to afford new dihydrotetrazoles, dihydroquinazolin-4-ones, and 1,3-benzothiazine-4-ones containing a 1,3-di-methyluracil fragment. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds was confirmed by FTIR and NMR spectroscopy, and their in vitro antioxidant and antimicrobial activities against some bacterial and fungal strains were evaluated.

A green synthetic route to the facile one-pot multicomponent synthesis of pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines and pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines have been developed using magnetized deionized water (MDW) as a green solvent under catalyst-free conditions. All reactions carried out in a short period of time and the products are obtained in high-to-excellent yields. The developed synthetic technique offers numerous advantages including eco-friendly, clean synthesis, simplicity, low cost, short reaction times, high reaction yields, and easy workup compared to the traditional synthetic method. Moreover, the reaction rates were followed spectrophotometrically by monitoring the changes in the absorption spectrum of the reaction mixture in ordinary deionized water and MDW.

A core-shell structured magnetic metal-mesoporous microsphere materials NiFe2O4@SiO2@Al-MS in which magnetic particles of NiFe2O4 are core and ordered mesoporous silica are shell, incorporated with aluminum to modify acid-catalyzed reactions. The mild conditions for the synthesis, easy workup, and short reaction time are the considerable benefits of the reaction in the presence of Nife(2)O(4)@SiO2@Al-MS as a catalyst.

Various spinel iron oxide nanoparticles (MFe(2)O4, M: Ca, Co, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mg, Mn, Ni, Sn and Zn) have been prepared using a single step coprecipitation method. Nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, FESEM, FT-IR and UV-Vis diffuse-reflectance spectroscopy. The catalytic activities of the synthesized nanoparticles in Hantzsch reaction have been studied. HgFe2O4 NPs exhibits the highest catalytic activity than others. The structural properties of synthesized 1,4-dihydropyridine were characterized by mass spectrometry, FT-IR and H-1- and C-13-NMR. Finally, the in silico molecular simulations for screening of blocking ability of synthesized 1,4-dihydropyridine against various TRPV6 proteins were performed. These studies revealed that examined 1,4-dihydropyridines are promising TRPV6 calcium channel blockers. As a result, molecular modeling confirmed that synthesized 1,4-DHPs are docked on the pore region of the examined TRPV6 channels.
