In this work, [H-2-Bisim][H2PO4](2) as a novel bis-imidazole-based acidic ionic liquid has been synthesized and characterized with a variety of techniques including FT-IR, H-1, C-13, P-31 NMR and mass spectroscopy techniques. After characterization, this compound was used as an affordable and recyclable catalyst in the synthesis of arylidene malononitrile, ethyl (E)-3-(aryl)-2-cyanoacrylate and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives. The procedure had several advantages such as excellent yields, short reaction times, simple workup and use of a non-expensive and non-toxic compound as the catalyst. Moreover, the prepared ionic liquid could be recycled and reused without significant loss in its catalytic activity in the studied reactions.

Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (prototype system ZIF-8) supported on the Fe3O4@TiO2@ILs magnetic nanostructure (Fe3O4@TiO2@ILs-ZIF-8) was first synthesized and it showed high catalytic activity for the one-pot synthesis of benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine derivatives. The multi-component reactions of various aldehydes, 2-aminobenzimidazole and ethyl acetoacetate were efficiently catalyzed using a novel magnetic nanocatalyst at room temperature. The nanocatalyst was easily separated from the reaction media by an external magnet and its catalytic behavior was remained significantly after six runs. The catalyst was fully characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TGA, XRD, EDX, TEM, and VSM analyses. The present methodology offers various advantages such as, excellent yields, simple procedures, short reaction times, simple workup and mild reaction conditions. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. A new magnetic nanocatalyst based on the immobilization of tungstic acid onto new design robust, cost-effective, green, and scalable zirconium-L-aspartate amino acid metal-organic framework (MOF)-grafted L-(+)-tartaric acid stabilized magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4/tart-NPs) was synthesized by two successive solvo (hydro)-thermal methods. This catalyst was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH), zeta potential, Thermogravimetry Analysis-Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA-DTA), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analyses. This catalyst is outstanding to prepare l-(4-phenyl)-2,4-dihydropyrano[2,3-c] pyrazole derivatives in aqueous media due to the open metal sites, high and steady proton conductivity in the zirconium-MOF, MIP-202(Zr), and MOF and also due to Bronsted acid properties of tungstic acid. This acidic catalyst can easily be extracted by an outward magnetic field after completion of the reaction without any deactivation or selectivity loss. The products were characterized by spectroscopic analysis (FT-IR, H-1-NMR, and C-13-NMR). The optimized reaction conditions and a possible reaction mechanism are outlined.

Due to serious side effects of benzimidazoles such as apoptosis and mitotic arrest, development of alternative anthelmintic drugs with comparable efficacy to target the acetylcholine receptors of parasites is considered very important to control this parasitic disease. Here we have developed an excellent method for synthesis of biscoumarins by employing a mild and efficient proline derived bifunctional thiourea catalyst bearing pyrrolidine and thiourea catalytic sites and tested their anthelmintic activity against helminth parasites Raillietina echinobothrida and Syphacia obvelata. The compounds 2a, 2j, 2k and 2o demonstrated much stronger anthelmintic activity against Raillietina echinobothrida in comparison to the standard drug, Praziquantel. Molecular docking simulations of the optimized compounds with beta -tubulin showed excellent binding interactions with several amino acid residues of the active site and the docking scores with beta -tubulin were found to be comparable to the in vitro anthelmintic activity.Graphical AbstractA series of biscoumarins were synthesized and they showed excellent anthelmintic properties in comparison to conventional benzimidazoles.

Efficient organocatalyst for enantioselective Strecker reaction was synthesized using g-C3N4 sheets (CN). CN-anchored sulfonic acid (CN-Bu-SO3H) was found to be a highly efficient and recoverable organocatalyst for the synthesis of alpha-aminonitriles with good to high yields. The synthesized organocatalyst (CN-Bu-SO3H) was characterized by FTIR, EDS, XRD, FESEM, and TGA analyses. The simple experimental method, using nontoxic solvents, easy recovery, and the reusability of the catalyst have led to the development of an environmentally friendly approach to the synthesis of alpha-aminonitriles.

In this study, a graphene oxide (GO) functionalized organic-inorganic hybrid was prepared by covalently immobilization of organic (3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane) and inorganic (H3PMo12O40) groups on the basal plane of GO. In this report, SO3H-functionalized Carbon nanoparticles (Pine-SO3H) with high acid density have been synthesized by the thermal treatment of sulfuric acid with Pine-Cone as carbon-based at 180 degrees C in a sealed autoclave in a one-step procedure. The resulted Nanocatalyst was characterized by FT-IR, TGA, XRD, FE-SEM and elemental analysis (EA). The result of characterization was shown that the carbon-based acid is amorphous with polycyclic aromatic carbon sheets attached plentiful -OH, -COOH, and -SO3H groups. The catalytic activities of Pine-SO3H was investigated in the highly efficient synthesis of pyrano[2,3-c] pyrazole, amino-benzochromenes, amidoalkyl naphthol and 5-arylidene-2,4-thiazolidinedione derivatives. The application of Pine-SO3H in the synthesis offers several advantages such as simple procedure with an easy work-up, recoverable catalyst, mild condition, eco-friendliness, excellent yields, short reaction times and use of an inexpensive catalyst.

Eggshell as a solid waste was loaded on a nano-Fe3O4 surface. Then, in one step, it (Fe3O4@eggshell) was converted to Fe3O4@Ca-3(PO4)(2) as a nano-magnetic, green, cheap, and environmentally friendly catalyst. Techniques such as FT-IR, VSM, FESEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, and TGA were used to characterize the as-synthesized catalyst. The catalytic activity of Fe3O4@Ca-3(PO4)(2) was evaluated in the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetra-substituted imidazole derivatives through a one-pot multicomponent reaction. The design of the experiment as a systematic statistical approach was used to obtain the optimum point of the reaction condition so that 0.05 g of the as-synthesized catalyst and 94.77 degrees C were the best condition (which provides 90% yield for the benchmark reaction). Then, 1,2,4,5-tetra-substituted imidazole derivatives in the optimum condition were synthesized with very low reaction times in good yields. The as-prepared catalyst was retrieved through a magnet and used several times without significant loss of catalytic activity.

Series of novel N-benzyl derivatives of 6-aminoflavone (9a-n) were synthesized and evaluated for anticancer and topoisomerase II enzyme inhibition activity. All the synthesized compounds were screened for in vitro anticancer activity against human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and human lung cancer cell line (A-549). Among the synthesized compounds, 9f and 9g were found to be the most potent anticancer agents against human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) with IC50 values of 9.35 mu M and 9.58 mu M, respectively. Compounds 9b, 9c and 9n exhibited promising anticancer activity against human lung cancer cell line (A-549) with 43.71%, 46.48% and 44.26% inhibition at the highest concentration of 10 mu M, respectively. Compounds 9c, 9f and 9g have ability to inhibit the topoisomerase II enzyme. Compound 9f showed most potent topoisomerase II enzyme inhibition activity with IC50 value of 12.11 mu M. Further, these compounds have a high potential to be developed as a promising topoisomerase II inhibitors.
