A novel metal-organic framework (MOF) has been produced via Cu(NO3)(2)center dot 6H(2)O reaction with 3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)pyridine (HL) in water, and its chemical formula is {[(Cu-(L)(2)(H2O)(2)] (H2O)(8))(n)}. Due to its high density of coordinately unsaturated sites along with large one-dimensional (1D) hexagonal channels, the activated complex 1 (1a) was explored as the solvent-free heterogeneous catalyst for cyanosilylation under mind conditions. The inhibitory function of compound 1a against the survival rate of OS-732 osteosarcoma cells was evaluated via Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) detection kit. Furthermore, the Annexin V-FITC/PI detection kit and the active oxygen (ROS) detection kit was carried out to determine the cell apoptosis levels and the ROS accumulation in OS-732 osteosarcoma cells after treatment by compound 1a.

Based on the broad spectrum of biological activity of hydrazide-hydrazones, trifluoromethyl compounds, and clinical usage of cholinesterase inhibitors, we investigated hydrazones obtained from 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzohydrazide and various benzaldehydes or aliphatic ketones as potential inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE). They were evaluated using Ellman’s spectrophotometric method. The hydrazide-hydrazones produced a dual inhibition of both cholinesterase enzymes with IC50 values of 46.8-137.7 mu M and 19.1-881.1 mu M for AChE and BuChE, respectively. The majority of the compounds were stronger inhibitors of AChE; four of them (2-bromobenzaldehyde, 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde, cyclohexanone, and camphor-based 2o, 2p, 3c, and 3d, respectively) produced a balanced inhibition of the enzymes and only 2-chloro/trifluoromethyl benzylidene derivatives 2d and 2q were found to be more potent inhibitors of BuChE. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)-N’-[4-(trifluoromethyl)benzylidene]benzohydrazide 2l produced the strongest inhibition of AChE via mixed-type inhibition determined experimentally. Structure-activity relationships were identified. The compounds fit physicochemical space for targeting central nervous systems with no apparent cytotoxicity for eukaryotic cell line together. The study provides new insights into this CF3-hydrazide-hydrazone scaffold.

Three 2D coordination polymers, [Cu-2(mu(4)-dpa)(bipy)(2)(H2O)](n)center dot 6nH(2)O (1), [Mn-2(mu(6)-dpa)(bipy)(2)](n) (2), and [Zn-2(mu(4)-dpa)(bipy)(2)(H2O)(2)](n)center dot 2nH(2)O (3), were prepared by a hydrothermal method using metal(II) chloride salts, 3-(2 ‘,4 ‘-dicarboxylphenoxy)phthalic acid (H(4)dpa) as a linker, as well as 2,2 ‘-bipyridine (bipy) as a crystallization mediator. Compounds 1-3 were obtained as crystalline solids and fully characterized. The structures of 1-3 were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing 2D metal-organic networks of sql, 3,6L66, and hcb topological types. Thermal stability and catalytic behavior of 1-3 were also studied. In particular, zinc(II) coordination polymer 3 functions as a highly active and recoverable heterogeneous catalyst in the mild cyanosilylation of benzaldehydes with trimethylsilyl cyanide to give cyanohydrin derivatives. The influence of various parameters was investigated, including a time of reaction, a loading of catalyst and its recycling, an effect of solvent type, and a substrate scope. As a result, up to 93% product yields were attained in a catalyst recoverable and reusable system when exploring 4-nitrobenzaldehyde as a model substrate. This study contributes to widening the types of multifunctional polycarboxylic acid linkers for the design of novel coordination polymers with notable applications in heterogeneous catalysis.

Quinoline derivatives are attracting considerable interest due to their biological importance. In this paper, several 2-amino-4-aryl-6-(quinolin-2-ylthio)pyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile derivatives are synthesized by adopting a one-pot reaction of quinoline-2-thione, aromatic aldehydes, and malononitrile in the presence of sodium hydroxide in absolute ethanol. The structures of these newly synthesized compounds were determined using different spectroscopic techniques, including elemental analyses, IR,H-1 NMR, and MS. The synthesized derivatives were screened for their antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities. Compounds4a,4b,4d, and4eexhibited promising antimicrobial activity compared to antibacterial and antifungal standard drugs. Additionally,4f,4d, and4gshowed potent cytotoxic activity against both MCF-7 and A549 cells with IC(50)values (6.39-9.3 mu M). Our molecular docking results of compound4fprove good binding affinity toward the three tested proteins as Jak2/STATA3 inhibition and are in accordance with the RT-PCR mRNA expressions of the compound against MCF-7 cells which downregulated the Jak2 and STAT3 genes, and this may be the proposed mode of action for anti-breast cancer activity.

Background Pyrazoles have attracted particular attention due to the diverse biological activities associated with this heterocyclic system, and some have been shown to be cytotoxic to several human cell lines. Several drugs currently on the market have this heterocycle as the key structural motif, and some have been approved for the treatment of different types of cancer. Results 4,4MODIFIER LETTER PRIME-(Arylmethylene)bis(1H-pyrazol-5-ols) derivatives 3a-q were synthetized by a three components reaction of 3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone (1) with various benzaldehydes 2 catalyzed by sodium acetate at room temperature. The structures of all synthesized compounds were characterized by physicochemical properties and spectral means (IR and NMR) and were evaluated for their radical scavenging activity by DPPH assay and tested in vitro on colorectal RKO carcinoma cells in order to determine their cytotoxic properties. All 4,4MODIFIER LETTER PRIME-(arylmethylene)bis(1H-pyrazol-5-ols) derivatives 3a-q were synthetized in high to excellent yield, and pure products were isolated by simple filtration. All compounds have good radical scavenging activity, and half of them are more active than ascorbic acid used as standard. Conclusion Several derivatives proved to be cytotoxic in the RKO cell line. In particular, compound 3i proved to be a very potent scavenger with an IC50 of 6.2 +/- 0.6 mu M and exhibited an IC50 of 9.9 +/- 1.1 mu M against RKO cell. Autophagy proteins were activated as a survival mechanism, whereas the predominant pathway of death was p53-mediated apoptosis.

Co3O4 and Eu-doped Co3O4 nanocatalysts were synthesized through an ultrasonic-assisted solvothermal method and were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) methods. Spinel cubic crystalline system for synthesized nanocatalysts was confirmed with XRD, whereas the spherical morphology of Co3O4 changed to nanorods after Eu3+ doping, which was affirmed with FESEM micrographs. Catalytic performance of the nanomaterials was examined through the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-benzochromenes using aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, and beta-naphthol condensation under solvent-free conditions and microwave irradiation. Mild reaction conditions, short reaction times, simple setup, using an affordable catalyst, and high-quality products were some of the advantages of this procedure. The efficiency for Eu-doped nanocatalyst was achieved by about 96%.

The present study was conducted to synthesize Zr@IL-Fe3O4 MNPs as a new magnetically recoverable heterogeneous catalyst, which was then characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The catalytic behavior of the Zr@IL-Fe3O4 MNPs was efficiently used for the synthesis of highly substituted pyran derivatives via a one-pot three-component condensation of 4-hydroxycoumarin/dimedone, malononitrile, and arylaldehydes under solvent-free conditions. This new methodology demonstrated some important features, including short reaction times, excellent yields, lower loading of the catalyst, easy work-up, and recyclability of the catalyst for a minimum of six times without any noticeable decrease in catalytic activity.

Graphene oxide as suitable support material was employed for the synthesis of GO-MnO2 nanocatalyst via a greener solution combustion route. Rod-like MnO2 was found to be uniformly adhered to both sides of graphene oxide (GO) sheets. The nanocatalyst was thoroughly characterized using different instrumental methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), N-2 adsorption-desorption, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with EDS mapping, UV-visible spectroscopy and Thermogravitometric (TG) analysis. From the experimental results, GO-MnO2 was found to be a potential catalyst for chalcones preparation via Claisen-Schmidt condensation. The catalytic activity of GO-MnO2 nanocatalyst was found to be superior as compared to pure MnO2 and GO. The reaction conditions were varied thoroughly by changing several reaction parameters like the solvent polarity, temperature, and catalyst wt%. High yield of chalcones was obtained in a short period of time at 110 degrees C under solventless conditions. The catalyst was easy to separate and was reused multiple times with minor change in activity. On comparing the activity with other reported catalyst in literatures it was revealed that GO-MnO2 nanocatalyst has significantly high activity in lesser period of time.
