The polysaccharide of yam was extracted by hot water method and purified by column chromatography. The physicochemical properties of Chinese yam polysaccharide were analyzed by UV, IR, GPC, 1D-NMR and 2D-NMR spectra. The results showed that Chinese yam polysaccharide had alpha-D-Gluc-(1 -> 4) glycoside bond, and the C2 hydroxyl group was replaced by ethoxyl group. The average molecular weight was determined to be 7.28 x 104. It showed that The scavenging effect of yam polysaccharide on hydroxyl radicals was similar to VC. The sulfated polysaccharide (S-P), phosphorylated polysaccharide (P-P), carboxymethylated polysaccharide (C-P) and acetylated polysaccharide (A-P) were identified by IR and NMR. The results showed that P and its derivatives showed good antioxidant activity. Especially, their scavenging ability to hydroxyl radicals reached the level of VC. This laid a theoretical foundation for the development of yam polysaccharide-related foods.

A bioinspired iron(III)porphyrinic Zr-MOF, PCN-222(Fe), was modified by post-synthetic cluster metalation with iron(III) chloride, as a cheap, earth-abundant, and environmentally friendly metal precursor, towards formation a new multifunctional MOF, namely Fe@PCN-222(Fe). The MOF consists of bimetallic (Zr-oxo-Fe) nodes linked by Fe(III)porphyrin struts. The cluster metalation and pre-activation treatment of PCN-222(Fe) were performed cooperatively using the FeCl3. The respective MOF was characterized through various techniques, such as FT-IR, PXRD, ICP-AES, BET surface area, SEM, UV-Vis DRS, TGA/DSC, PL, and XPS analyses. The solid showed catalytic activity for one-pot tandem synthesis of quinazolin-4(3H)-ones from alcohols and 2-aminobenzamide through a three-consecutive-step reaction (oxidation-cyclization-oxidation) under visible light irradiation using air or oxygen without adding any additive. In addition, its catalytic performance was superior to that of the bare PCN-222(Fe) and the corresponding homogeneous catalysts. The experiments indicate that the solid MOF acts as both a photoredox and Lewis acid catalyst. Hot-filtration and Fe-leaching tests as well as reusability experiments confirm that the nominal MOF acts as an efficient reusable heterogeneous catalyst for at least three runs without significant decrease in its activity. This work demonstrates the potential of using MOFs as supports for single-site metal species towards preparation of multifunctional MOFs for modern organic transformations combining photocatalysis and catalysis. A series of synthetically accessible ligands based on new 2-(R-sulfonamido)benzamide have been prepared (R = methyl for H3M; R = 4-toly for H3T and T2CN; R = 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl for H(3)iP and HiPCN). A novel metal-organic framework (MOF) has been produced via Cu(NO3)(2)center dot 6H(2)O reaction with 3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)pyridine (HL) in water, and its chemical formula is {[(Cu-(L)(2)(H2O)(2)] (H2O)(8))(n)}. Herein, we report the development of a tailor-made fluoride-based heterogeneous catalyst, POLITAG-F, for the waste-minimized continuous production of cyanohydrin silyl ethers. The careful designing of the polymeric support and the choice of fluoride ion as the anionic species resulted in the improvement of catalytic efficiency and allowed the effective conversion of different carbonyls (aldehydes, ketones, and unsaturated ketones). The POLITAG-F catalyst, employed under flow conditions, led to the conversion of large amounts (over 100 mmol) of the substrate with a productivity of 0.1 mmol min(-1). In addition, flow conditions allowed to minimize the waste production reaching an associated E-factor value of 0.04. An exhaustive evaluation of the environmental impact of our protocol has been reported by considering several green metrics (process mass intensity, atom economy, and reaction mass efficiency) and also the benign index and the safety hazard index of the process.

A novel oxidative esterification of 1-arylprop-2-en-1-ols with toluene derivatives catalyzed by tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) is reported. The optimization of the reaction conditions illustrates that each of experiment parameters including the catalyst, solvent, and oxidant is significant for present oxidative functionalization. This metal-free protocol has a broad substrate scope including the halogen groups for further functionalization and enriches the reactivity profile of allyl alcohol and toluene derivatives.
